Reviews

"I wanted to send an email to say thank you for the great teen camp this week. I was a little worried about how Liam would adapt to learning something so new but every day he came home excited and full of new knowledge. Also very physically tired, which was great!

From our end, he really seemed to take on what you all were trying to teach him and especially as a country kid who isn't exposed to much city crime issues I think this was very informative for him.

He also seems to have a desire to continue so I'll look at how we can try to make your upcoming teen classes work.

Thank you again for all you did to make this a fun, safe learning space.

I look forward to getting back in there myself one day too."

How the Krav Maga Teen Day Camp Works

Tip of Spear Summer Day Camps are for teens ages 12-17. This co-ed camp helps them build confidence, street smarts, awareness and recognition of danger, and learn the basics of defending themselves in real life, with a healthy respect of using physical force. Technique is taught to build muscle memory and practiced under stress to ensure they know how to use it under extreme emotions - with games and other fun but challenging drills. Teens of similar age and size will be partnered together.

Teens who have never taken Krav Maga before will be able to learn the entire first level (P1) and can take the optional exam on the last day which allows them to move onto the next level. Those who take the exam will receive a certificate and two clothing patches.

For teens who have taken IKMF Krav Maga before, they will be able to work on their next level. Note that each level is cumulative, meaning they must master not just the current level but demonstrate they know the previous levels as well, making each successive level much more challenging to remember and master all technique.

Each camp is a week long, and runs Monday to Friday, 9am to 4pm. Drop-off is 8:30-9 am and pick-up is 4-4:30pm each day.

Teens are expected to bring:

  • a water bottle

  • a bagged lunch

  • snacks

  • clean indoor running shoes (that have never been worn outside)

  • gym shorts/pants

  • If they have taken Krav Maga before, they must also bring their Krav Maga t-shirt with rank patch or pants with rank patch, and protective gear

If your teen qualifies for the exam, it will be on Friday afternoon and parents are permitted to watch.

Please read our FAQ section for any additional questions about the exam, uniform, age, level of fitness, past trauma and more.
