Women's Self-Defence Classes in Edmonton

Women's Krav Maga self-defence classes are for women only, taught by female instructors, and includes curriculum women face from a physical and psychological perspective. Regardless of your past personal experiences, Tip of Spear is a safe place to develop the confidence and learn skills to stay safe in real life. Women come out of these seminars and classes more confident, bolder and stronger mentally and physically. They have a solid sense as to what to do in different situations to stay safe. We are proud to teach the IKMF Stay Away program! "Stay Away" is a self-defense program developed by the IKMF designed specifically from a woman’s physical and psychological standpoint. Since 1997, over 90,000 women around the world have attended these seminars to combat physical and sexual assault with incredible success.

"Stay Away" Women's Krav Maga deals with situations from a woman's daily routine, points out scenarios where threat may appear and teaches, systematically, how to maintain your calm defend yourself and reduce danger. Women's self defense Krav Maga focuses on physical and sexual assault scenarios, as they are the central threat for women. As this issue is highly disturbing and sometimes difficult to discuss, women's self defense techniques involves emotional training to ensure that women posses the ability to defend themselves, foster self confidence and also necessary aggressiveness. Defenses have been modified to accommodate women's physiques and state of mind.

The IKMF Stay Away program includes stories, discussion and physical technique on the following topics:

  • What your intuition is and how to use it

  • Developing and increasing your awareness

  • Understanding and developing your aggression

  • Understanding the differences between male and female communication

  • Setting boundaries using your voice

  • Enforcing boundaries if they are crossed

  • Defending yourself with simple blocks if someone were to strike you

  • Defending yourself with simple strikes if they keep attacking you

  • What to do after an altercation

  • Life-based scenarios and drills to help prepare you to use these skills in real life

  • And more!
